Bondage 101: Fun with Bondage Tape 1

One of the easiest, quickest, safest, and cheapest ways to experiment with bondage is with bondage tape. If you're just getting started with bondage, bondage tape is hard to beat, and it's less intimidating or threatening than cuffs or chains or even rope. Even if you're quite experienced, it's still a lot of fun.

Bondage tape is thin, flexible vinyl material, usually about two inches wide. It's not sticky at all; the vinyl has special properties that cause it to stick to itself, but not to anything else, so it won't cling to hair or skin or fabric. It's also completely reusable. You don't need any knot-tying skills whatsoever to use it, and it's quick and easy to restrain someone with, and to remove when you're done.

You can even make clothing from bondage tape. It's a great and inexpensive way to make temporary fetish or club wear; just a few quick turns of bondage tape around strategic parts of your body and you're done!

There are a lot of things you can do with bondage tape, which I'll talk about here. One of the very simplest is to bind wrists or ankles together like you see in the picture to the left. It's a fast way to bind your partner's limbs together, and it's quickly and easily removed.

When you use bondage tape this way, the easiest way to work with it is to wrap it entirely around one limb first, then wrap it around both limbs together. To bind your partner's wrists like you see here, wrap it completely around one wrist first, then bring your partner's wrists together and wrap it around both wrists, keeping a steady, even tension on it as you do. It'll stick to itself pretty aggressively, but it doesn't stick to skin at all, so wrapping around one wrist first keeps it from slipping.

USING A CHAIR

Chairs and bondage tape are a great combination. If you have a large chair with arms, there's all kinds of possibilities open to you. I like to use a nice, soft leather chair; I'm a big believer in comfort during bondage, because if your partner is comfortable, you can leave your partner tied and have fun for longer.

Start out by wrapping about one and a half turns of bondage tape around your partner's wrist, then pull the tape taut and wrap it several times around the arm of the chair while keeping a uniform pressure on it.

When both wrists are bound, have your partner lift his or her feet up onto the edge of the chair, and wrap a turn or two of bondage tape around each ankle, then continue wrapping the tape around the arm of the chair. This puts your partner in a delightfully vulnerable and accessible position.

What you'll need

Vinyl Bondage Tape
65' roll of 2" wide vinyl
bondage tape; available
in black, red, or pink

Bondage tape is available in several different colors from a number of places. It comes in rolls that are 2" wide, which is a handy width both for tying people up and for making interesting clothing; I've seen other widths available occasionally, but I prefer the 2" width. You can sometimes find it in sex toy stores, though it's often hard to find and usually overpriced.
